Radio Faraja is owned by the Catholic Diocese of Shinyanga and is intended to cover the whole Diocese of Shinyanga dominated mainly by the sukumatribes man. This is a vast area of land and most of the residents are sukumas with average academic education and actually some of them, (a few), with non!

The radio is therefore a good tool to use to uplift the educational impact and therefore the understanding the prevailing advancing mode of life as a whole.
Radio Faraja was therefore launched in the early two thousand years with this aim. Radio Faraja was granted its broadcasting license in June 2001. The license which radio Faraja got was that of District which could not be used to air commercials nor acquire any sort of profit, NON PROFITABLE, NON COMMERCIAL LICENSE.

In the last three years, progress has been very slow-if-any regarding the up grading of the Radio Broadcasting sector as a whole. Purchasing of different equipments for the different section of the station has been very slow. Radio Faraja has managed to up very attractive programmes – educative, entertaining and information and what it mainly stands for-religious.

STUDIOS

For the last three years the station managed to purchase equipment for a DJ style studio No. 2. Now two studios can be used, studio No. 1 for production and studio No. 2 as full day ON AIR, which has not changed-nineteen hours from 0500hr in the morning to 2400hrs a day-daily.

STUDIO SUPPORT SYSTEM

A main control room continues to hold satellite equipment-now only for Deutsche Welle radio.
The system has an outside broadcast facility that is capable of making live commentaries at least from distances with a maximum distance of 50 km by radio studio/transmitter linking system. This transmitter has a distance coverage of about the said 50 km radius-omni directional.

of the them a religious.
The programme content is very well planned and they vary from educative, entertaining, informative. Faraja relays DeutcheWelle Swahili three times morning, noon and evening – one hour of each of these relays. Radio Faraja has its own news at 1600hrs,1000hrs and 1930hrs. COVERAGE

Radio Faraja is having a coverage in the whole Diocese of Shinyanga (region) and some Districts like Nzega, Igunga in Tabora region, Kwimba, Misungwi in Mwanzaregion,Isaka in KahamaDistrict,Chato in Geita region and some areas in SingidaregionandSimiyu region. This is a vast area of land and most of the residents are sukumas with average academic education and actually some of them, (a few), with non!
We therefore believe that, Radio remains a powerful tool to bring social changes and uplift the educational standard of the people. As a second medium community members can listen to it, while doing something else like cooking, looking after cattle, fetching firewood, driving, learning and so forth.
